Dropped Jason at the airport this morning. He just texted that they just landed in Atlanta. They have a few hour layover before heading to Paris.
Want to thank God for two things so far:
1. There was a bad accident on 270 this morning. I was told a semi truck leaked gasoline and both lanes are closed and may be for some time. Clancy (the other pastor Jason is traveling with) called us while we were on the way, and we were able to avoid 270. Traffic was horrible, but we got to the airport on time! One security man said that LOTS of people missed their flights this morning, so we are thankful that we made it!
2. In order to save money($900), they purchased 2 separate tickets...one to Paris and one to Africa. We thought they would have to get their luggage in Paris, go through customs, and then recheck their luggage. Although they are supposed to have a several hour layover that would allow enough time, it would still be a huge pain, but worth it to save that much money. The problem that we didn't anticipate is that you only get 1 free checked bag if you fly to Paris...they both had 2 (you get 2 free if you fly to Africa). Instead of causing a problem, the lady at the check-in counter just checked their luggage all the way through! So they got both checked bags free and they don't have to see them again until Africa! What a gift! Jason offered to go buy the lady Starbucks!
God really reminded me already this morning that He is our loving Father who wants to bless us with gifts. Some we ask for...like getting to the airport on time...and some that are just a surprise bonus. I am looking forward (and paying closer attention) to what God wants to do through this trip.
