First Real Post. . . . From Another Blog

This is the first post from a blog that some others in the group are keeping with general information about what happened last night with the group etc.  You can follow that blog if you would like to as well  - however it is my plan to make sure this blog is updated with all of their posts as well.  The address of the other blog is http://grace2car.wordpress.com/.

We Have Arrived. . .

. . . at the mission station in Bangui.  After almost two days of travel we made it from Columbus to Atlanta to Paris to the Bangui airport and were met by Tim (our supervisor while in CAR) and Ginger Hock and Dr. Ngoumape (from the Seminary).  We are tired by had a mostly uneventful trip (one gate change and one lost piece of luggage).  I wish we could have taken pictues of the chaos at the airport or the drive to the mission station.  The scene was very different from anything in Delaware, Marysville, or Lexington.

We had a briefing on how the guest house works, when meals happen and discussed in more detail some of the work projects that we will begin tomorrow.  Tim will be driving us up to the James Gribble Leadership Center to get a look at the site and explain the work to be done.  More details on that tomorrow.

We also had a very interesting conversation after dinner about the civil war here that chased the missionaries out almost ten years ago.  This destroyed the old seminary that was an 8 hour drive from Bangui.  This conversation turned into a little history on CAR and Chinese interest in natural resources affecting current day events in the city.

From what little we have seen from the missionaries and the other guests here it has been enlightening and caused me to appreciate even more the men and women involved in this work (medicine, service and teaching.)

Thank you for all of your prayer and support up to this point.  Good night from Bangui!
