Proud of My Students

After my afternoon of yesterday, I ended up giving the first exam when class started this morning.  The students were nervous wanting to please their teacher.  They all took the test pretty quickly and I was able to grade them over lunch.  They all were written in French and believe it or not, I was able to grade all of them without the help of a translator just from hearing the words spoken all the time.  Many of the words are also very similar to our English word as well.

They grade on a 15 point scale here rather than our 4 point American scale.

Of my 15 students, 12 of them got 100%, 2 of them got 14.5/15 and one of them got 13/15.  I was really proud of how well they learned the material.

When I got back from lunch and told them I had them all graded, I asked them if they wanted to see them.  They said no no no, we are too scared, let's wait until after class.  We had a natural break when a student was called out of the class and so I asked them again if they wanted them and they decided that they were ready to see their grades.

They all breathed a sigh of relief and then applauded me and Cyriac, my translator, for being good teachers.
