Yesterday was the perfect day and what we really needed. Clancy and I both slept in until about 8:00, which for Africa is more like sleeping until noon. Everyone was up and around and the day was started and going. It was good to get a little bit of extra rest from the busy schedule we have had so far.
I read part of a book in the morning and then we made our first trip to the U.S. Ambassador's house to the pool. It was starting to cool off by the time we got there and actually after a little while in the pool some of us were starting to feel a little chilly.
It is quite the unusual "ticket" now to get into the pool. The missionaries all have done this and registered as Americans so they can come and go. Clancy and I, on the other hand, had to take our passports and hand them to the guard while we were swimming only to get them back when we left.
There was no danger of it disappearing, but it is a little disconcerting as you might well imagine to leave your identity behind.
I ended up watching a movie on my computer and going to bed early. It was a good day to do nothing.
